Het gigantische bed waar Adam Trask in ligt zijn het soort zware houten meubels waar ik het altijd erg benauwd van krijg. Ze doen me denken aan bezoeken aan het bejaardenhuis die ik als kind altijd als erg drukkend ervaarde. De lange gangen waar je doorheen liep met open kamerdeuren waardoor je de zware houten meubels zag staan en de tv’s je tegemoet schreeuwen.
Het hout de bewoners, licht en zuurstof overstemmend. Het afnemen van leven in bedrukte isolatie en eenzaamheid.
The gigantic bed that Adam Trask is in is the kind of heavy wooden furniture that always makes me very claustrophobic. They remind me of visits to the old people’s home, which I always experienced as very oppressive as a child. The long corridors you walked through with open room doors through which you could see the heavy wooden furniture and the TVs screaming at you.
The wood smothering the inhabitants, light and oxygen. The decline of life in depressed isolation and loneliness.
