Op de oude trouwfoto’s uit de familie staan vaak bloemenmanden ter extra aankleding. Dit zag je meer in die tijd, bij familieportretten werden vaak potten met planten, of zoals bij een bruiloft bloemenmanden aan de portretten toegevoegd. Nou waren de families vaak zo groot dat deze extra toevoegingen weer bijna in het niet vielen.

Pots with plants or, as with a wedding, flower baskets were added to the family portraits. The families were often so large that these extra additions became almost insignificant.
Het artificieel opsmukken van een foto waar tegenwoordig veel kritiek op is bij platforms zoals Instagram omdat men enkel ‘picture perfect’ plaatjes zou willen laten zien lijkt dus niet alleen van deze tijd. We zetten de boel graag net wat mooier aan dan het dagelijkse leven is. Een verheerlijking in plaats van een authentieke weergave, hoe klein dan ook.
